„Avantgarde - Ihrer Zeit /In their Day - Classic Designs by Schliephacke and Ssymmank”
Jovis Verlag, Berlin 2007
„The 1950s produced numerous timeless design icons. These include the "Ssymmank" and "Schliephacke" floor lamps, modern classics that can certainly be mentioned in the same breath as the famous works of Arne Jacobsen, Eero Saarinen, or Charles and Ray Eames: The organic lamp by Günter Ssymmank, an assistant to Hans Scharoun – with its lamp head made of six brightly colored nylon leaves, a sensation even for the 1950s – is now on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Quite different is the multifunctional "Schliephacke" lamp by the architect Fridtjof Schliephacke: With its minimalist design language, it clearly ties in with the design traditions of the Bauhaus. Against the backdrop of the contemporary design and architecture scene, the book tells the story of two lamps whose contrasting design approaches exemplify the functionalism debate of the post-war reconstruction era."
